Armistice Day. (WCRCh Elavado X WCRCh Shiny).

08~November~2009

Mixed weather for our Triathlon meeting today but at least we finished the afternoon with some sunshine!

21 dogs ran over 175 yds., 100 yds. and 50 yds. in three dog races, with the same three dogs competing against each other off scratch each time, but from different trap positions. We worked on a points system for 1st., 2nd. and 3rd. places, with the overall points for each dog being totalled at the end, resulting in the following three dogs who won each of their three races and thus gained maximum points and won their owners a bottle of wine.

Ray & Judy's Talk Of The Town.
                                                        Dave & Lynn's Zula.
                                                          and litter mate,
                                                       Andrew's Mr.Slinks.

Especially good to see these last two youngsters doing so well today, and also Talk Of The Town on form as usual. Congratulations to all three dogs and their owners! (Andrew, we hope the wine went some way towards making up for Slinky trying to eat your car!)

We stopped midway for some much needed hot soup, sausage rolls and cake, (thanks to all those who provided the goodies!) There were some very close finishes in the 50 yds. dash making the job of line judging an unenviable task, - especially as most of the dogs decided to carry on down the track anyway!

Many thanks to all those who helped out today.

18~October~2009

A fresh Autumn day for us today. The field had been cut and the track rolled and all was looking good.

We ran some bends and some straights, starting with solos and going on to two and three dog trials. Sheila's new pup Samson, made an appearance and was taking everything in. Dennis & Pearl's Milan's Dream, looked good round the bend today and Dave & Lynn's Zula was also looking impressive and quick out of the traps on the straight.

Thanks to all those who helped out. Sorry, no photos. this week.

20~September~2009

Sunshine all the way today! We ran some three dog trials over 175 yards and a few solos and pairs for the youngsters. Little Cei ran from her trap with the lid down for the first time and was totally unfazed and Zula had her first run with another dog from the traps, - both shaping-up nicely.

Great to see Stephen from up north visiting us with his daughter Louisa, - looking very grown-up and being a big help to her Dad catching Zara, who ran two good solos.

We were still celebrating Elaine's birthday on the Saturday (we won't breathe a word about you being fabulous  - - - ty Elaine!). There were several delicious birthday cakes on offer along with huge sausage rolls to send us all home a few pound heavier. Happy Birthday Elaine! ... (it's amazing what this woman can do with a couple of balloons, ...... don't ask!)

Last but not least, a big thank you to Dave and Lynn for the loan of their quad bike for the meeting and for all their help over the last few days.

After the bustle of last weeks Open, this weeks meeting was small & relaxed with just a few dogs running and plenty of tea and cake!

Thanks to Di for helping Ray with the lure again, - lovely to see Livvie's two pups Cei, & Sue with Merlyn both having a short sprint up the track, each very excited to join in & be part of things.

Another lovely day - sunny & warm. We ran a mixture of straights and bends today. The track looked a picture, lush and green and the dogs all seemed to enjoy trying out our bend again.

                                                                For Pete's Sake

Lovely to see David and For Pete's Sake again. All the way from Swansea, with Pete looking fit and keen and almost ready for our upcoming Open. Barbara and Alan joined us also and gave their pup Stig his first short run on the bend, - they must have been pleased by the way he took to it. Thanks Alan, John & Vince for all your hard work on the traps today.

Stig

Sonny Jim and Shadow

Sheila's Shadow put in a good performance too on the bend, and her pup Charlie was happy to meet up again with his litter brother, - the handsome Jed (Sunlays Topaz x Matchcroft Tilly) visiting us from up North with Frank & his Dad. Good to see all of you.

                                                                    Jed

John & Elaines' evergreen Sonny Jim looked impressive and seems not to have lost any of his speed over time, while Vince and Julia were kept busy running their many dogs and need congratulating on their organisation! We are always pleased to see Dennis & Pearl, especially when they bring Pearl's Mum who always appears with the most delicious home-made cakes (an honourary life-member we think!)

                                                                  Tea break

We welcomed Malcolm & Vivienne who joined us as new members today with their pup, and Andy & Anna's two pups will soon be joining the new recruits learning their skills on the track.

Glorious sunshine all day for our meeting. The sun umbrellas were out for our break times and we counted our blessings for having such a beautiful setting to run our dogs in.

We ran 175 yards straight today. Good to see Andy & Anna who dropped in with Tipsy and some of her lovely pups. Andrew's Mr.Slinky had his first run from a closed trap and didn't bat an eyelid and Pam's Wren had her first four dog trial. Well done all!

All the usual suspects present. Most of us had either two or three trials with our dogs, but it was still a relaxed day with lots of chat, cakes and cups of tea. Thanks to Di for helping Ray with the lure, and also to everyone else who helped out.

Elaine was doing a fantastic job and getting quite carried away cutting the field on the mower. - in fact she may still be there now!

26~July~2009

We ran a 200yds. straight today, off scratch. Luckily there was not much in the way of rain to stop us racing with most of the predicted downpours coming later on. We enjoyed seeing Dave and Lynn ('Conways') with their two dogs Abbey and Tia , popping over from Wales to join us and it was also good to catch up again with Jackie and Lucy and Pam with Wren.

We did a few solos as usual to start things off. Andrew's Mister Slinks and litter sister Dave and Lynn (Hunter's) Zula are both learning fast and looking promising while Tom, Dianne and Louise's pup Zak enjoyed a short sprint up the track as did Di's little Cei.  Hopefully the start of some illustrious careers for these youngsters!

Ray and Judy's Talk Of The Town continues to impress, running with maturity and looking every bit the racing dog while Ian and Alli's Making A Mint certainly looks the business, winning each of his trials well today.

Thanks to everyone who helped out at today's meeting.

12~July~2009

Well, it was good to be back today after several weeks absence after our Go With The Flow's injury. Thanks to everyone for the kindness and concern, it means a lot to us. She began her retirement by eating cake and biscuits!

Today's meeting was well attended, - lots of pups, youngsters and most of the regulars enjoying a beautiful sunny day. Sheila took charge of her lovely new pup Charlie, who made himself right at home straight away, introducing himself to as many dogs as he could! Good luck with him Sheila. Good to see Rebecca from the Northern, Geoff from Gloucester and Terry & Carole all the way from Wales visiting us today too.

Ian & Alli's Dixie is learning fast and looking good and Tom, Diane & Louise's new pup had his first run up the track today. The track looked fantastic as ever and yesterday's rain had just finished the job nicely for Ray.

Another lovely day for us today. A big thank you to everyone who helped over the weekend preparing the field and the track for our Open next week. We only have the weather to organise now!

With the jobs done, we ran some trials starting on the straight and then moving onto the bend.

It was lovely to see Di & Sue each with a new pup from Di's latest litter (see below) - thirteen weeks old and taking everything in their stride!

Di & Sue's pups.

Also good to see Colin with Bee United and Roy with Millipede, - both running well today, along with John & Elaine's dogs who were all looking on top form.

A perfect day for racing, - lovely spring sunshine to put everyone in a good mood, and the track looked a picture.

We ran the bend today starting with some solos and following up with three and four dog trials.

Lovely to see Dennis back with us (and Pearl of course). We hope you are soon back in good health Dennis and that the fresh air and sunshine helped today. Dennis would like us to pass on his gratitude for all the good wishes he has received from racing folk over the last two weeks, which have really cheered him up. (He will not be attempting the 240 yds. bend for some time yet however!) We wish you a speedy recovery Den.

On their first visit to us today were Andrew and Slinky. This little pup met up with his dad (Beau Brummel) though has yet to reaquaint himself with his litter sister, - Dave & Lynn's Zula. He coped admirably well with his first short chase of the lure and looked every bit the part!

Thanks to everyone who helped out today. Good to see you all.

Perfect weather for racing today, - some sun and some cloud, with the temperature just right for people and dogs. We ran on the straight, starting with solos and then some mixed trials.

Good to see Emma & family with their dogs today, all enjoying the racing and the sunshine. Also Ron & Flo with Boris, who soon got the idea after a couple of hand slips.

Many of the younger dogs are finding their feet now and gaining experience and there seem plenty of keen pups set to follow before long.

Lovely to see James and Elizabeth again with Gelert & Guto. Guto ran some good two and three dog trials while the evergreen Gelert still looked strong and focused in his solo.

We were so pleased to see Betty & Steve today and all got to cuddle Sam after his operation. What a brave, plucky little dog!

Thanks to Chris and Neville on the traps and Dave on the bike!

29~March~2009

Well the weather forecast said "cloudy and cold", but we were in for a nice surprise as the sun shone for most of the day!

Good to see Andy & Anna from the Heart of England club who dropped in to say hello and to take a break from looking after their latest litter of pups. Also we welcomed Jackie and her family, with Lucy who had her first chase after the lure today and managed to discover some of her relatives amongst our racers.

We ran some solos, pairs and three dog races on the straight today. The track looked great after the previous days rain and the dogs all seemed full of the joys of spring and happy to out in the sunshine.

Good to see Becky from the Northern club visiting us again with Cody and her pup, Lola, - one to watch out for in the future!

A perfect Spring day for racing, - lovely temperatures and not a dog coat in sight! Quite a good attendance today for our bend meeting. We ran solos for some of the younger and less experienced dogs, who are all beginning to find their feet around the bend now, then went on to run a number of clearing trials.

Good to see Julie and her "Peppermint gang" from the Oxford club and congratulations to Smudge, Bob, Violet and Roxy who were all cleared today! Coilin's Bee United is going well and must be a good contender for the forthcoming Champs and Neville & Kath's Dinky Doo also looked in fine style. The Laguna pups all enjoyed meeting up with each other again and taking a turn around the bend.

Thanks to Dave for being "bike man" all day!

Happy Birthday Ellie (our "honorary non-racing member"!). Ten years old today!

Working party.  Our bend track has now been cut and rolled and the rails around the top end concreted in. Many thanks to all those who helped out with the jobs on Saturday and Sunday, - it is now looking immaculate! Special thanks to Ray for all the hard work in between.

We finished-off with a few trials (pictures below).

Well. we had all the weather could throw at us today, - sun, rain, wind, sleet and a hail storm that lasted 30 minutes!

A few new visitors called in to watch what was going on, so we got to meet Cosmo, Sky and Blue for the first time. Hope you all enjoyed your visit and that next time you come we can arrange some better weather!

Lovely to see Rebecca, visiting us from the Northern club with her new pup Lola, who is looking very promising. What a good race she had with Sonny Jim and Milan's Dream. (See below).

Thanks to all who helped out with the jobs before and after, - especially in the hail storm!

A lovely sunny start to our racing season today. Just a small meeting but good to see old and new friends again plus a couple of new pups. We ran a few solo trials and then two and three dog races. The dogs loved being back on the field again and the track looked fantastic!
Here are a few photos of the day ...
