A good turn-out today to run our bend, - the sun shone and the track looked fantastic! Lots of solos to begin with followed by some pairs, then some clearing trials for two of our members.

Congratulations to Sheila with Shadow and James & Elizabeth with Guto on both being passed for the bend today and thanks to Di, Jo & Lloyd, Dennis & Pearl, Sheila, Robert & Naomi and Ray & Judy for lending their dogs for clearing trials.

Once again we were very grateful to Dave & Lynn for stepping into the breach and loaning us their quad bike!

Nice to see Kate with her little bitch Biddy visiting us for the first time. We hope they both enjoyed their day and Biddy her couple of runs along the track.

The Indi has been approached by the Japanese TV production company, Telesearch Europe, to provide videos of whippet racing for a programme entitled "DNA" due to be broadcast on Fuji TV in October.

We have supplied them with clips from our archives which will be used to illustrate a study of the correlation between muscular build and movement and speed.

31~August~2008

An early start for us today. We were on the field for 9:30 trying to get jobs done for next weeks Open, and battling with weather and machinery!

We decided to run some trials for those who came to help us and finished the day by making the draw under the make-shift canopy alomgside the container, with only the odd bit of drizzle finding its way in.

Ian arrived on his macho machine like a knight in shining armour, with Jazz (WCRCh Making Music) riding shotgun and cut the field for us, (what else does this man have at home - a combine harvester next time?!) Thank you Ian, we just let you get on with it, but it was much appreciated.

The track is looking verdant and lush under the care of Mr.Jones, and all ready for next Sunday's Open. - Just the weather to organise now!

A hectic day, with lots of pups all eager to run trials and learn the ropes. Good to see everyone, especially some of the members we don't get together with that often, - Richard and Lilah with their lovely Laguna pups Lorne and Lace, along with Lynn with Lara and Pam with Wren.

 

Still more pups with Neil, Jenny and Holly's Poppy and of course Len and June getting their pup going as well. All these new recruits seemed to enjoy their day.

 

Good to see Nella and Millie, Chris, Di and Annette and Vince and Julia all with their respective charges. Warm and humid conditions with the odd light shower but no-one seemed to mind too much.

 

Thanks to all who helped out on the lure and the traps. No photos today I'm afraid, - too busy!

Just a small meeting today. The high temperatures meant that the dogs mostly had just two runs each and we spent the remainder of it under the shade of our gazebos! We started off with some solos for the pups and then ran three dog trials.

Good to see Len & June again, visiting today along with their dogs, - nice to catch-up with you both! Chris, Dennis & Pearl, John & Elaine and Steve & Betty made up the rest of the contingent.

We ran the bend today, and the track looked fantastic after yesterday's rain and all Ray's efforts on the mower. We had glorious sunshine and gale force winds, - but we escaped the rain thank goodness!

Lovely to see Lynn & Dave again with their Laguna girl Lara, and also Matthew, Beck & Ed who dropped in with their young pup Bobby to see what we all get up to.

Sheila's pup Shadow is comming on well and keen to learn the ropes, while litter mates Monty, Milan & Macy also all enjoyed stretching their legs around the bend.

What a scorcher! A small select meeting today in tropical Cotheridge. Lovely to see David again with For Pete's Sake all the way from Swansea, along with the other half of our Welsh contingent, - Geoffrey with Nelson, also from Swansea, - both dogs enjoying a few sprints along the straight in the sunshine.

Neil & Jenny's pup Poppy had some short runs after the lure and was eager for more, while their slimlined Paddy also joined-in with a few trials.

Good to see Andrew & Alison with their three charges and also Tom, Dianne & Louise with their two.

Finally, our thoughts go out to John & Frances whose little pup Sky accidently injured herself whilst watching the racing. We all hope she is soon feeling better and makes a good recovery.

The Northern was Shropshire Lass' first Open.

Plenty of youngsters eager to have a go today, - Ray and Judy's Monty (WCRCh Run At Mill x Goodnight Vienna) looking like a pro already and Rob and Kay's Macy (WCRCh Run At Mill x Goodnight Vienna) having her first run out of a closed trap, two of the Remember Me  pups (March Wind x Remember Me) owned by Nev and Kath and Robert and Naomi also both looking good, as was Sheila's new pup, having fun on a short run up the straight.

What Choice, Pearly Spencer and Go With The Flow made up the Veteran's group, and Annette's Linnet passed her clearing trials with flying colours, - well done!

Good to see Chris's little bitch Shropshire Lass returning to form again after her season.

Lots of trials for the regulars, - all the dogs enjoying the lovely Spring weather.
